Faced with dated environments that were not serving residents' needs, Evenglow needed creative direction to provide the best home for their current and future residents. Their existing seven-story Lodge building was dated, occupied, and would be difficult to renovate without major disruption to residents and cash flow.
Rather than renovate, BLDD crafted a solution that could better serve each population's unique needs. A new three story 76 unit Assisted Living building was designed adjacent to Evenglow’s existing memory care community called “The Inn”. A new production kitchen now serves culinary delights for Assisted Living residents as well as the 26 existing memory care apartments.
Future phases of campus development at The Inn contemplate both ”small home” style licensed care and future independent living homes.
Assisted Living details:
- Architectural style and materials blend with existing traditional detailing at The Inn.
- Large windows designed throughout for ample natural light in resident apartments and common spaces
- Common living, gathering and amenity spaces on each floor
- 76 Resident Apartments including one bedrooms and studios
- Common living areas, piano lounge, dining room, multi-purpose room and wellnesss space
- Three stories | 66,700 s.f.
- Large windows to allow for a ton of natural sunlight

Sedgebrook operated both a formal dining venue as well as a "café" dining area. The café had become outdated and was transformed into a Bistro and Pub, providing new dining environments along with a refreshed menu.
Monarch Landing, a senior living development located in Naperville, Illinois contacted BLDD to renovate their existing formal dining space into a modern restaurant experience. The main design goal was to create a more intimate dining experience while remaining flexible and open for larger events. Addressing acoustics, lighting, and traffic flow were also high priorities along with new interior finishes.
