The new ALAH High School project will be a drastic change for the growing district. With an all new High School building, the district will be able to expand and plan for the future. The space will have numerous flexible collaboration zones where students can work in groups or collaborate with other classrooms. Flexible furniture will be throughout the space, allowing for each classroom to have the capability to do all kinds of learning, whether that be individual or group projects.
A brand new gym will function as space for physical education classes as well as sports, with fold out bleachers to allow for community seating. Locker rooms and a weight room will allow athletes the space they need. Interiors will inspire school spirit, with school emblems, colors, and the district mascot throughout, allowing for a sense of belonging, a necessity for a district that has students from four different cities.
The administration spaces will be revamped, with new office and meeting spaces to accomodate staff, along with new flexible and modern choir, tech, science, and art spaces.
The building was designed to replace several small, aging elementary schools with one larger facility that accommodates small learning communities and future education changes through its unique modular design.
Despite facing significant obstacles, including a flood-prone location and limitations on modifying existing structures, the district persevered, eventually resulting in a groundbreaking new building addition that redefined the school’s entrance and functionality.
