Palmyra R-1 School District has a long-standing tradition of basketball success. BLDD was hired to give this 40+ year-old dated high school gym a complete refresh and rebranding. Work at the high school gymnasium includes new bleachers seating for 1,400, a new wood floor, scoreboard, and acoustical improvements as well as a new commons space. Also included are renovations of the kitchen, art room, locker rooms, public toilet rooms, and a family & consumer sciences lab.
Renovation of the Palmyra Middle School includes the main office area as well as creating a secure entry. Renovation of the Palmyra Elementary School consists of the replacement of floor tile, ceiling tile, existing galvanized piping, and painting.

With a tradition of athletic success, the 40+ year-old gymnasium and athletic support spaces didn't fit the current needs of the district.
A complete renovation and rebrand of the athletic spaces will give the district a space to match their winning record! Additional renovations at the elementary, middle and high school will give the district much needed facility updates.
Following a successful year-long master planning process, designed to address concerns of aging infrastructure and facility inequities, Lanphier High School was identified as a top priority for revitalization among the district's three high schools.
Faced with outdated high school facilities, an extensive community engagement planning process identified and assisted in prioritizing needs; ensuring a successful plan.
Following successful community engagement resulting in a $200 million bond referendum, Iowa City is poised to update City High School with an addition and renovation. The project includes a new gymnasium that will have two floors, seating up to 2,000 at athletic events on all four sides. Fans will pass through a new plaza area on their way to the gym entrance.
