Monarch Landing wanted to turn their tired, cafeteria-like cafe into a dynamic and fresh bistro environment, while finding efficiencies during the design process to better serve their residents and staff. The 124 seats can be arranged within a variety of settings which include the large main dining area, a more intimate banquet seating area, and the “pub,” which can be closed off with large barn doors for a private space or resident events.
The main servery counter offers a clear view to the culinary skills of the chefs at the action station. Here, residents can see their custom salads made fresh to order or have their panini sandwiches presented to them hot off the grill.

The new cafe was designed with Springtime in mind and features flowing curves, bright finishes and natural textures.
Curving architectural forms signify movement, while the light finishes, wood tones and white tile work provide detail with an open and airy feeling throughout.
The project consists of interior remodeling of common spaces including dining, serving, activity, office, support, corridor and living spaces. The project also includes the relocation of the main entrance which includes a new vestibule addition.
The sprawling four-story, 138-unit facility offers independent living, assisted living and memory care. Residents can enjoy all the amenities of home and beyond, including a fitness center, salon, recreation room, underground parking, dining rooms and a coffee/ice cream shop.
As an extension to the Carriage Crossing Senior Living (CCSL) Rochester community, BLDD was commissioned to design a townhome/cottage master plan. The project is built on a 3.17-acre site that consists of 14 one-story cottage quadplexes, triplexes and duplexes.
