Situated on 6.7 acres of rolling countryside adjacent a bustling commercial corridor, the Landings 142-unit Senior Living campus offers Batavia and surrounding communities a variety of lifestyle options. The building provides distinguished entrances for both Independent Living and Assisted/Memory Care residents. Apartments feature scenic vistas of wetland prairiescapes along with connections to purposeful outdoor gardens and patio spaces, which are key elements of post-COVID design strategies.
The Landings includes 62 Independent Living Apartments, 56 Assisted Living Apartments, and 24 Memory Care Studios. Whether a studio, one bedroom or two bedroom, all of the Independent and Assisted Living apartments are provided with an outdoor balcony. Independent Living residents have washers/dryers and access to connected underground heated parking.
How do we efficiently accommodate a long, narrow and sloped site?
Our design team utilized existing grade to create a windowless infrastructure and storage space, and implemented two access drives to discreetly separate Independent and Assisted Living entry points.

Monarch Landing, a senior living development located in Naperville, Illinois contacted BLDD to renovate their existing formal dining space into a modern restaurant experience. The main design goal was to create a more intimate dining experience while remaining flexible and open for larger events. Addressing acoustics, lighting, and traffic flow were also high priorities along with new interior finishes.
In the heart of an established senior living community, BLDD Architects transformed a challenging site into a state-of-the-art aquatic facility that complements the existing architecture. This 3,900-square-foot addition, enhanced by 1,470 square feet of strategic renovations, demonstrates how thoughtful design can maximize limited space while delivering premium amenities.
Sedgebrook operated both a formal dining venue as well as a "café" dining area. The café had become outdated and was transformed into a Bistro and Pub, providing new dining environments along with a refreshed menu.
