Faced with dated environments that were not serving a range of the residents' needs, Evenglow needed direction for creating the best home for their assisted living and independent living residents. Their existing seven-story Lodge building was occupied and would be difficult to renovate without going over budget and disrupting residents.
Situated on 6.7 acres of rolling countryside adjacent a bustling commercial corridor, the Landings 142-unit Senior Living campus offers Batavia and surrounding communities a variety of lifestyle options. The building provides distinguished entrances for both Independent Living and Assisted/Memory Care residents.
The sprawling four-story, 138-unit facility offers independent living, assisted living and memory care. Residents can enjoy all the amenities of home and beyond, including a fitness center, salon, recreation room, underground parking, dining rooms and a coffee/ice cream shop.
Monarch Landing, a senior living development located in Naperville, Illinois contacted BLDD to renovate their existing formal dining space into a modern restaurant experience. The main design goal was to create a more intimate dining experience while remaining flexible and open for larger events. Addressing acoustics, lighting, and traffic flow were also high priorities along with new interior finishes.
Carriage Crossing Decatur offers scenic urban living surrounded by historic landmarks and two major medical centers—Decatur Memorial Hospital and HSHS St. Mary’s Hospital. The inviting community features a range of engaging amenities such as family and activity spaces, dining choices, wellness spaces, a game room, library, and movie theatre room.
Located on 8.5 acre site at the southwest corner of the intersection of S. Midlothian Rd. and Courtland St. in Mundelein, IL is a proposed 94 unit senior living community. The design is a subtle modern take on Colonial forms and concepts, consistent with the styling seen in many neighboring homes.
As an extension to the Carriage Crossing Senior Living (CCSL) Rochester community, BLDD was commissioned to design a townhome/cottage master plan. The project is built on a 3.17-acre site that consists of 14 one-story cottage quadplexes, triplexes and duplexes.
Carriage Crossing Assisted Living in Arcola, Illinois is a 42,500 s.f. facility that includes 42 units for assisted living and 14 units for memory care.
Sedgebrook operated both a formal dining venue as well as a "café" dining area. The café had become outdated and was transformed into a Bistro and Pub, providing new dining environments along with a refreshed menu.
Walnut Court is an existing 30 year old two story residential building with 40 apartments located on the southwest section of the Covenant Village of Northbrook campus. The building houses Independent Living residents, and includes a mix of studio, one and two bedroom apartments.
Monarch Landing wanted to turn their tired, cafeteria-like cafe into a dynamic and fresh bistro environment, while finding efficiencies during the design process to better serve their residents and staff. The 124 seats can be arranged within a variety of settings which include the large main dining area, a more intimate banquet seating area, and the “pub,” which can be closed off with large barn doors for a private space or resident events.
The project consists of interior remodeling of common spaces including dining, serving, activity, office, support, corridor and living spaces. The project also includes the relocation of the main entrance which includes a new vestibule addition.
In order to create an updated and more private recovery environment for short-term stay patients, Covenant Living of Northbrook undertook the delicate task of separating long-term resident living spaces from short-term patient areas.
